Renier’s research has an overall focus on ionic liquids, specifically the fundamentals of ILs as well as their applications. By combining his knowledge of inorganic chemistry and ILs chemistry, Renier creates new and exciting materials with diverse applications. He relies on X-ray diffraction as a tool to understand the structures and their associated properties.
